The Saguaro Grove

A cluster of branching saguaros rises from dark scrub against a glowing yellow sky. Part of Craig's Tucson desert series, the photograph brings several distinct cactus forms together in one composition. Some stand straight, others extend their arms, and smaller branches fill the spaces between them. The silhouettes reward a slow scan across the frame, revealing a crowded desert scene through the contrast between solid darkness and the light behind it.
