Lake Below the Pass

A pale Swiss mountain lake catches the light between dark slopes. Craig remembers the view from a road climbing out of the valley during the family's 1982 travels, when a passing landscape prompted a pause along the way. The water curves beneath a softly clouded sky, giving the darker terrain a luminous center. This lake photograph holds the reward of looking back: a broad, quiet view opening below the road as the journey continues upward.
