An Irish Home

A pale house with red shutters stands above rough ground on the Irish coast. Its simple facade gives the eye a point of order among stones, grass and uneven earth. Craig believes he photographed it on his first visit to Ireland, probably in 1979, although 1983 remains possible. Several more visits would follow. The photograph preserves the quiet appeal of a home encountered along the way, with the surrounding landscape giving its modest architecture a strong sense of place.
