The Magnificence of the Grand Canyon

Evening light warms the Grand Canyon's layered cliffs while deep ravines fall into shadow. Craig's description of the scene supplied the photograph's title: The Magnificence of the Grand Canyon. His view gives that large idea a visible form, following the canyon's changes in color, distance and depth. Sunlit faces hold the eye before darker openings draw it farther into the landscape. The photograph rewards repeated looking as new ridges emerge from an apparently familiar vista.
