Albuquerque Mass Ascension

Brightly patterned hot air balloons rise close together during an Albuquerque mass ascension. Craig remembers waves of balloons taking flight, filling the sky in stages until the gathering below had become a moving display overhead. Striped panels and broad fields of color give each balloon its own character. Partial forms at the edges suggest activity continuing beyond the frame, while smaller balloons higher up draw the eye into the distance. The photograph preserves the excitement of a sky steadily filling with color.
