Peak Above the Aspens

A pointed summit rises above dark forest while golden aspens catch the light below. Made in 1987 as part of Craig's Colorado autumn series, this mountain photograph sets the sharp outline of rock against the softer texture of changing leaves. A clear blue sky gives the peak a strong silhouette. The eye travels from individual trees through wooded slopes to the summit, finding a different kind of detail in each layer.
