The Kitchen Window

Green daylight gathers in the bottles and jars of a farmhouse kitchen window, leaving the surrounding room in shadow. Craig made this still-life photograph in Williamsburg, Virginia, circa 1976-1977. His subject is a modest domestic detail within a historic setting. Glass, foliage and the geometry of the window turn an everyday shelf into a study of reflected light, inviting the viewer to imagine the room beyond the frame.
