A Snippet of Red Coral

Red branches glow against dark water, edged with tiny pale polyps. Craig's 1987 Cayman Brac photograph narrows the reef to a vivid fragment, allowing color and texture to carry the composition. The close crop emphasizes the contrast between the branching coral and the surrounding darkness. Follow the bright edges and more details appear: small projections, changing shades of red and the irregular rhythm of growth. The title, A Snippet of Red Coral, captures the pleasure of looking closely at just one part.
