Renowned Undersea Orchestra Conductor
Shot on FilmLong white antennae and red-striped legs spread across the reef like a conductor's sweeping gestures. Craig photographed this banded coral shrimp at Cayman Brac in 1987 and gave it a grand role: warming up an undersea orchestra for Flight of the Bumblebee. The humor comes from scale. He remembers the shrimp as only a few inches across, yet the close view gives it a commanding presence. This underwater photograph combines fine marine detail with Craig's delight in the personalities he saw beneath the surface.
